A staff member from Oakmont of Valencia is sharing how the luxury Santa Clarita senior living community will stand apart from other communities ahead of its summer 2019 grand opening.
A total of 40 assisted living apartment homes and two memory care communities made up of 25 apartment homes each is set to comprise Oakmont of Valencia, according to Mary Dembkowski of Oakmont.
“Each memory care community has its own dining room, its own activity areas, their own courtyards, plus, which is really nice, is we put a movie theater right in our memory care community,” Dembkowski said.
Oakmont of Santa Clarita, the sister community which opened in 2016, has more emphasis on assisted living, while Oakmont of Valencia is set to be more heavily focused on memory care for seniors living with dementia and Alzheimer’s disease, according to Dembkowski.
Additionally, Oakmont of Valencia’s location in a residential area of Copper Hill Drive places the community within walking distance of shops, paseos, a grocery store and more.
“It’s a little bit of a different setting,” Dembkowski said. “It’s a lovely area.”
While the variety of five-star amenities and activities are a distinguishing feature of Oakmont Senior Living communities, Dembkowski believes that providing residents and their families with peace of mind because of the knowledge that the senior is being well taken care of is another big priority.
“We give our residents pendants that detect falls, so if someone should slip and fall, they don’t have to worry, ‘I have to press my pendant,’ — we’ve already been notified,” she said. “So I think for the residents and the families, just having that peace of mind knowing that there are people around that have eyes on them and their wellbeing is our first consideration.”
