A pancake breakfast is set to be hosted by the staff at Oakmont of Santa Clarita next week, officials said Thursday.
“We are doing a special pancake breakfast in appreciation of all that our first responders do for our community — not only Oakmont but the community of Santa Clarita,” said Mary Dembkowski of Oakmont of Santa Clarita.
Dembkowski noted that local first responders are invited to the Santa Clarita luxury senior living community to partake in the breakfast at 8 a.m. on Feb. 16.

“Our culinary team will prepare a delicious pancake breakfast, … and we’ll just say thank you for their commitment and service to Santa Clarita and our residents at Oakmont,” Dembkowski said.
Both the staff and residents at Oakmont of Santa Clarita have seen first-hand the work of local first responders after an evacuation during the Rye Fire in 2017, as well as on an ongoing basis.
“We got such great help that day,” Dembkowski recalled. “And obviously we’re a senior community; sometimes things happen where we have to call 911, and our first responders (are) the best, so we just want to say thank you to them.”
